Simple Ways To Correct Your Posture – This Is Just So Helpful

Many people are just wanted to have that really straight and standing out posture. But, since many people are working in environments that requires sitting down almost all the time, it tends to develop a posture that’s not really good to look at and to have.

Posture talks about how your body is positioned in sittings, lying down or standing. Now, having a good posture would be really good to our bodies because parts of the body are aligned according to their proper position thus making the stress lessened. And having a bad posture may just lead to injury.

How do you actually sit? According to Livestrong, you must:

Place your feet firmly on the floor with your knees and hips bent to 90 degrees. Roll your shoulders back and then down so that the shoulder blades move down your back. Check your pelvis alignment by gripping your public bone and tilting your pelvis forward. Your ears should be directly in-line with your shoulders which are in-line with your hips.”

This is applicable everytime you sit in. May that be in the office, at home, park, anywhere. Everyone must maintain that. But how? Lifehack shares some tips on how to correct that posture.

1. Look at the Mirror
Mirror is not only used in looking how good you look but also can be used to check if you have a good posture. Do this by seeing if your palms are facing your thighs with your thumbs pointing ahead. Now, pull your head back while your shoulders are down and pulled back as well. Now, it’s good posture.

2. Strengthening your Core (abs)
The core where the abdominal muscles (abs) supports almost all the body movements. Thus, having a strong one would be really beneficial for you. Try doing sets of sit ups or your other favorite abs exercises. This will surely benefit you in the long run.

3. Yoga
One really important part of yoga is proper posture. Your instructor will surely be strict in your position which requires good posture. You need proper posture to avoid injuries.

4. Doing Squats
Squats are among the most basic forms of exercises you can do. Just doing it properly, it’ll not only develop your body’s strength, but also, for your posture too. Here’s how to do it properly.

 

5. Planking
Like what we have said, strengthening your core can really help you a lot in developing a proper posture. According to the Harvard health Publications, here’s the proper way to do it.

•Abdominal muscles are tight.
•Shoulders are aligned directly over the elbows.
•Body is properly aligned so that neck and spine are neutral. Model is looking down at the floor.
•Shoulders are down and back.
•Only toes, forearms, and hands are touching the floor.

6. Try Pilates
Pilates are known to also strengthen the core. All you need is a mat to lay on. Then do the exercises such as “The 100,” Criss-Cross,” the “Elephant,” and the “Swan”

7. Check your vertical line
How will check it? Look at the mirror. Either standing or sitting, look if your ears, shoulders and your hips align.

8. Now check your attitude
Having a good mood seems to make us stand tall and straight. But, when there are times when it’s kinda’ heavy, you might slouch. That doesn’t look good at all. Try starting your day well.

9. Try the “Old balloon Trick”
What is the old balloon trick actually? All you need to do is to pretend that there’s a string above your head and there’s a balloon over it. Visualize that your head is being pulled.

10. Take a walk.
Even if you’re working for several hours in sitting position, try walking around for about 15-30 minutes. This will help you maintain a good posture.
