The sleepy seaside town of Whitstable is known for oysters and cream teas but has now become an internet sensation after an incredible photo of a giant crustacean was posted online.
People have been flocking to a website Weird Whitstable which first shared a satellite image of the colossal sea monster thought to be at least 50ft lurking shallow water at the mouth of Kent harbor making the fishing boats resting on the nearby pier look so small.
While some claim that the mysterious creature, which really looks like a crab, is a proof of a ‘crabzilla’, there are others who argue that it was just a oddly shaped sandbank or just an elaborate hoax.
Quinton Winter, the blog curator of the website mentioned above, at first thought that the photograph sent to him by a follower was just something like an unusual sand formation but was then convinced that the giant sea monster is true after he had encountered it himself: “At first all I could see was some faint movement, then as it rose from the water I thought ‘that’s a funny looking bit of driftwood’.
